A hearing loss should not make you miss out on the many important messages of life.
Most hearing losses can be helped by individually selected, prescribed, and fitted hearing aids. Of the 28 million Americans who have hearing loss, 27 million could benefit from hearing aids. That means 96 percent of those with a hearing loss would be able to better communicate with their family and friends if they were wearing a hearing aid.
Unfortunately, less than 21 percent of those who would benefit from a hearing aid are wearing one. That leaves a staggering 75 percent of those who would benefit from a hearing aid who are not wearing one! Seventy-five percent of those with a hearing loss could be experiencing a better quality of life! This is a very frightening statistic since a person's quality of life can be so negatively impacted by an untreated hearing loss.
It is important to understand how we hear sounds, how our hearing can be compromised when we have a hearing loss, and how hearing aids can help.
